F: How would you describe your design style?

CA: Clean, thoughtful, playful, with a touch of the handmade. I draw a lot of inspiration from older print methods and scientific illustrations.

F: What Fullsteam label do you think best reflects your style? Any others you're really proud of?

CA: Rabbit Eye!! It was the first label I designed at Fullsteam but totally embodies who I am as a designer. Bright colors, scientifically illustrated bunnies, with a modern take via vector blueberries. That label makes me happy and the beer is delicious.

F: How do you cheer yourself up during COVID-19? Any new hobbies you've picked up?

CA: I am an avid embroiderer. There is nothing like drinking a cold beer on the front porch and embroidering. Two new hobbies I have picked up: ice cream making and rollerblading! Rollerblading is meditative and fun at the same time, it makes me feel like I am a kid again.

F: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

CA: Sicily. It's where my family is from and I have never been. I have been reflecting on my ancestral lineage a lot recently and feel called to visit. In addition, I love the ocean and fresh seafood (:

F: What's one major graphic design pet peeve of yours? (are we guilty of it / have we ever been?!?)

CA: Putting a stroke on a typeface!!! It was hammered into my brain as a young designer never to do so. Type designers specifically design a font; adding a stroke to a typeface disrupts the typeface's contrast. Thinking about it now, it sounds like a pretty pretentious pet peeve... maybe I have learned to accept it.

Another pet peeve is when someone asks you to design something stating "it shouldn't take you very long", or "you can design this really quickly". It is disrespectful to the designer and the process.
